History of the Fish
The history of the Low Brass Fish goes back, way back. In fact, no one really knows when it started. Detch once asked Mr Z about the tradition. Mr Z said that it was around when he was in high school, but he didn't know when it started either. So this tradition is at least 10-12 years old. One theory of the origin of the fish, although it may seem farfetched, is that a long time ago on a camping trip, a trombone player attached a fishing lure to the end of his slide and used his trombone to catch fish. Another theory correlates with a certain type of fish, the bass. Low Brass is known for their booming bass sound, so it would seem fitting to have a fish mascot.

Why We Eat Pez (and No One Else Does...)
Despite what you may think, there is actually reasoning behind all the pez we all eat. First of all, Pez is rich with sugar. This quick intake of sugar right before we perform is just what we need to perform better. Pez also tastes really good and it's very cheap. Another reason that pez is the choice of Parkway West players is that 'pez' is Spanish for "fish," and as you may know, the fish is our official mascot.
